POKER prima DIVAS

Weekend Conference

Probably one of the most interesting revelations that I’ve come to as of late is how much successful business people and successful poker players lead similar professional lives.

Just think about this for a second; you have to know when to invest your money and when to get out of the way, you have to know whether the risk of all your “chips” has a return on investment that justifies risking everything , and all of your opponents want to see you lose before they do.

This weekend past, I was at a conference, and as I lingered in a room full of money (or at least full of the people who seem to posses a great deal of it), I realized that the things that they did to get their money would be equally effective at a poker table. Just for a moment pause and think of this:

-when they are at their best, they are relaxed, not stressed, and not concerned whether they win or lose

-they are patient and choose their places to risk their money with great care and research

-they know that they will be successful

-they possess an image that demands respect and take advantage of it

-they are educated about their endeavors

-they don’t let anyone tell them that they can’t do it

-they do it because they are passionate about it

Interesting, isn’t it? So the way I figure it, as long as I continue to learn and evolve as a poker player, I shall also continue to learn and evolve in my personal and professional life too.

Poker has already taught me to be braver and smarter about taking risks. I can’t wait to see what else it will teach me!
